From the Easel: What Simon Is Teaching Me
Lately, a lot of my free time has been spent working on a painting of Simon.
It’s been one of those paintings where I keep learning as I go — slowing down, layering more carefully, and trying to capture not just what he looks like, but the personality behind the expression.
That’s the part I’ve enjoyed most.
There’s something special about paintings that feel familiar and alive. Whether it’s a dog with a certain look in its eyes, an old tractor sitting at sunset, or a gravel road disappearing into the distance, I want the work to feel connected to real life and real memories.
As Buddy Seat Co. keeps growing, you’ll start seeing more of that direction show up here.
Along with the rural landscapes and farm scenes that inspired this brand from the beginning, I’ll also be exploring more animal portraits and paintings focused on emotion, personality, and the small details that make a subject feel real.
Still rural.
Still personal.
Just continuing to grow.
I’m excited to share more of the process — and more finished pieces — in the months ahead.
